8 Similar Figures We can use similar figures to find out information in real life. Use a comparison between information you know. Shadows are a great way to use similar figures to calculate heights.

9 Finding out height: Get a partner.
On a piece of paper draw a picture (stick figure) of yourself and then draw your shadow. On the same piece of paper draw a picture of the building and it’s shadow. Next to the picture of you, put your height. We are going to go outside and measure our shadow and then the shadow of the building, after you have done this, write the measurements next to their pictures. Set up a proportion to figure out the height of the building.
