1. Saffron Lane Athletics Stadium Proposals for Infield Development User consultation evening 4th September 2018

2. Rationale
The work aims to improve the infield of the track so that we are able to maximise the use of the infield for other sports when it is not being used by athletics. This will:
Increase the viability of the site
Help LCC to meet demand for additional sports pitches in the city
Bring in additional income
Increase participation

3. Key considerations
Athletics will continue to be the main sport on site.
Any additional sports use will be complimentary to athletics.
There will be an increased level of grounds maintenance to the infield to ensure its condition is maintained.
Any changes will be IAAF compliant

5. Proposed Timescales
Plan to commence work in late October 2018 (dependent on weather and contractor appointment )
Completion by March 2019
Infield bookings taken from September 2019 (dependant on grass growth)

6. Completion of Works
All work will be carried out by an SCAPA approved contractor.
Work will be carried out during normal working hours Monday-Friday, 9am-5pm to allow for access during the evenings and weekends. (subject to meeting H&S requirements)
New field event areas will be completed before the original facilities are removed.
Access to Infield - Track will be protected during works and also when infield is in use.
Improvements on current offer – i.e. long jump covers, new throwing cage net
