4 Naming Carboxylic Acids
Take parent name of alkane chain, drop the ‘e’, and replace it with ‘oic acid’.

6 Properties of Carboxylic Acids
As with all other acids, they turn blue litmus paper into RED. The presence of the –OH group makes them polar Due to polarity, have high melting points. The more COOH groups present, the higher the melting point.
