3 Graduation Requirements
Earn a total of 220 credits (credits must be earned in each of the areas below) Must pass 1 year of Algebra Must fulfill Pathway requirement (College or Career Pathway) SUBJECT CREDITS ENGLISH 40 (4 YEARS) SOCIAL STUDIES 30 (3 YEARS) MATHEMATICS SCIENCE 20 (2 YEARS) PHYSICAL EDUCATION FOREIGN LANGUAGE OR FINE ARTS 10 (1 YEAR) HEALTH 5 (1 SEMESTER) PATHWAY ELECTIVES 35 TOTAL TO GRADUATE 220

4 Every class is worth 5 credits
Students will earn the 5 credits for classes with semester grades of A, B, C, or D No credits are given for grades of F If a class is repeated, you will only earn credit for the better grade

5 What can you do with a high school diploma?
Community College examples: BC, Taft, Porterville Vocational School examples: San Joaquin Valley College, UEI, UTI Military Job

All students must pass Algebra or an approved sequence of courses covering the Algebra standard (Ed.Code )

COLLEGE PATHWAY Complete 3 year long classes within the E-G subject areas

24 WE NO LONGER HAVE A 9GR PROGRAM.

25 HOW TO CALCULATE GPA Add all points together – this is your sum.
Count the number of classes you’ve taken. Divide the sum by the number of classes, and you have your unweighted GPA. EXAMPLE English 9CP B 3 Algebra 1CP C 2 Earth Science D /6 = 2.83 Health B 3 PE A 4 Art A +__ 4___ 17 POINT VALUE A = 4 B = 3 C = 2 D = 1 F = 0

26 A-G REQUIREMENTS Students that complete the “A-G” required courses, with a good GPA, may apply for admissions to the CSU, UC or Private/Independent University system. Classes must be College Prep level or higher Grades of ‘C’ or better are required

38 A-G REQUIREMENTS Just because you meet the minimum requirement does not mean you will gain entry into the college of your choice. Colleges look at all 4 years of your high school career when they decide who to admit to their campus.
