(A) When there is no conflict, neural activity (blue) grows to a threshold for motor initiation. (B) In incongruent trials, competing motor plans in PPC delay the growth of activity (red), but this delay is reduced by frontal mechanisms that enhance target information (green). (C) With parietal damage, the effect of competition is reduced but the frontal enhancement remains, resulting in a net facilitation.
