ADDRESSING THE QUESTION
THESIS Use WHILE / ALTHOUGH / or DESPITE!! Those of you that didn’t use this often had thesis paragraphs rather than statements which is unacceptable Must include beginning AND end date you’ll be addressing ADDRESSING THE QUESTION Stick to your time period ONLY “And today…” is irrelevant Set your starting point in your specific continuity or change that you’re covering Then discuss HOW and WHY that topic either changed or continued Then identify the ending point for that continuity or change

GLOBAL CONTEXT (THINK OF THIS AS GLOBAL CONNECTION)
Your global context must “explain a particular continuity or change over time” (rubric) YES: Poor harvests in Western Europe [outside region] contributed to [explanation] the spread of the Black Death and population decrease [change], not just increased East/West contacts brought about by Mongol integration. NO: Globally, during this same time period, South America [outside region] also utilized record keeping technologies such as quipu. WHATS MISSING? ANALYSIS Use BECAUSE Analyze WHY the change (or continuity) occurred, not what happened as a result of that continuity or change For every change or continuity you identify, think about WHY it occurred
