1 Current events in the 1940's Meaghan Fournier, Aminieli Hopson, Angelina Twist, Patricia Whittenbeck, and Micaiah Wynn

2 BATTLE OF BRITAIN Jul 10, 1940 – Oct 31, 1940 The battle of Britain was a successful defense from Germany trying to invade Britain. It is estimated that around 1,000 British planes were shot down during the battle, while over 1,800 German planes were destroyed.

3 World war II lasted 6 years
It started in which took the lives of some 35 to 60 million people including the 6 million Jew who died because of the actions of the Nazi.

4 Pearl harbor Pearl Harbor took place on December 7th, 1941 at the U.S. naval base near Honolulu, Hawaii.  That morning hundreds of Japanese fighter planes descended on the base causing the deaths of more than 2,400 Americans

5 Rationing  Americans were given rationing books during World War II. The book contained removable stamps to buy certain things such as, gas, sugar, meat, cooking oil, and canned goods. 6 V-E DAY May 8th is called victory in Europe day. This day is to celebrate the victory of the War in Europe. Brittin and the United states celebrate this day to rejoice the defeat of the Nazi's.
