Adult Religious Exploration
Everything we do at UUCA on Sunday is to help us deepen our Unitarian Universalist faith and help us build the beloved community we all dream of; that includes both our worship services and our Middle Hour Religious Exploration programming. (And yes, even those meetings you might have scheduled as well.) We’ve had some wonderful classes for adults over the last half year, addressing many different topics, from UU history to the science of happiness. Rev. Makar has also led classes and Rev. Rogers has hosted several panel discussions. And we want that to continue. We have some amazing things planned for this upcoming year, and so that you know more about what is being offered we’ll be communicating more on The City and in the Weekly Update. The UUCA ARE Primer All of the courses are drop in, come for one week, or come for all of them. During the summer classes start at 9:30am, starting 8/20 they will begin at 10:10am. You’ll see Inquirers happens frequently; this is a course geared towards folks who are new to UUCA. They are led by a variety of leaders in the congregation – even if you’ve been here a while check it out! As part of UUCA’s Anti-Racism, Anti-Oppression, and Multiculturalism (ARAOMC) commitment, there will periodically be times when there will just be ARAOMC sessions. (See below for more info.) The members of the ARE Team are excited to see this as part of faith development and to be able to support the ARAOMC commitment of the congregation. Listening Circles will occur on August 27th. The congregation is invited to come to middle hour and join in with groups of 6-10 people processing, discussing, and listening to each other as we all reflect on our ARAOMC commitment. These Circles will be similar in practice to a covenant group, but are a one time event. There are a variety of courses throughout the year. However, each course does not start and stop on the same week. Check The City and the Weekly Update for info on current courses being offered.
