BOSNIA AND HERZEGOVINA

2. Key achievements
1) In Bosnia and Herzegovina (the Republic Srpska) has adopted of the new set environmental laws:
Environmental Framework Law;
Law on Water Protection;
Law on Waste Management;
Law on Nature Protection;
Law on Air Protection;
Law on Ecological Fund
In Federation of B&H, the same of Environmental Laws are in the final procedure of parliament adoption.

2) Drafted Project:
National Environmental Action Plan/ NEAP B&H
3) Drawing up:
Secondary Legislation in the frame new adopted
set of Environmental Laws

4. BERCEN activities in 2003 1) Uregent reconstruction and development:
Environmental Institutions in Bosnia and Herzegovina
2) Institutional strengthening and capacity building :
Environmental Institutions of B&H especially
Environmental Inspectorate
3) Establishment and development on the State level :
Environmental Protection Agency/ EPA B&H

4) Implementation of minimum criteria for Environmental Inspections
in the framework:
BERCEN B&H training program
- on the Entity level responsibility
- on the Canton or Municipality level responsibility
5) The objectives of Program are as following:
- establishing of the environmental inspectorate and its increase the effectiveness
- promote compliance related the environmental
requirements
