What is the genre of this book?
It is fiction It is a dystopian fiction

Why is it considered a sin to write?
They are all supposed to be as one and writing requires the expression of personal style. They are not allowed to have a unique personality in this society Whenever you write, you are being individualist. Writing is an independent activity.

Why do people in the House of the Useless know about modern times?
BONUS: What does the title “Useless” tell us about how these individuals are thought of? The House of the Useless is where people who have turned 40 go. They begin working at age 15 and “retire” at 40. They know about modern times because they’ve been around longer than anyone else. They may have lived through modern times OR someone else might have told them. They are considered unneeded and having unnecessary knowledge.
