The House of the Useless is where people who have turned 40 go. They begin working at age 15 and “retire” at 40.
They know about modern times because they’ve been around longer than anyone else. They may have lived through modern times OR someone else might have told them.
They are considered unneeded and having unnecessary knowledge.
