11. The heroic defense of the Brest Fortress demonstrated to the world the greatest firmness, courage and strength of a Soviet soldier. On July 28, 1944 Soviet troops liberated Brest.

12. On May 8, 1965 by the Decree of the Supreme Soviet of the Brest Fortress was conferring the honorary title "Hero-Fortress".
