3 Memorandum of Understanding
AISD and UNT As part of the Allen ISD strategic plan, a committee was formed to explore the possibility of a collegial partnership with a local university to design a Master’s Degree program in Educational Leadership. Tonight, we will present to the Board, our plan to establish a partnership with the University of North Texas. The MOU’s purpose is to articulate the terms and conditions by which both parties will collaborate to design a Master’s Degree program in Educational Leadership, known as the Eagle Leadership Development Program.

4 Eagle Leadership Development Program
A 2-year Master’s Program in Educational Leadership offered through collaboration between Allen ISD and UNT. Participants take 2 classes per fall and spring semesters and 1 class during summer sessions to earn this M.Ed in Educational Leadership. Instructional models offer face-to-face and blended learning opportunities. Newly designed graduate level content and coursework taught by current AISD school and district leaders. Networking opportunities with top AISD administrators. Up to date educational theory, research, and professional practice. Small classes with fellow AISD employees allows for personalized instruction and a stronger sense of community. Classes offered within Allen ISD. Partial tuition reimbursement after completing each semester. Participation in the cohort does not guarantee employee an administrative position in Allen ISD.

5 Tuition and Reimbursement
We anticipate up to 15 employees being selected for the initial cohort to begin Summer of 2018. Total employee cost for M.Ed. in Educational Leadership through UNT Accelerated Online Program is approximately $12,000 per employee. Allen ISD will reimburse educators $300 per course . Budget Impact for the school year would be approximately $22,500. (15 employees completing 5 courses between June 2018-May 2019) Budget impact for the school year would be approximately $27,000. (15 employees completing 6 courses between June May 2020) Total employee cost for M.Ed. in Educational Leadership through AISD/UNT partnership is approximately $8,700 per employee.

6 Tuition and Reimbursement
Employees who begin the program but become no longer employed with Allen ISD, will no longer be a part of the cohort and will refund the district 100% of received reimbursement at the time they leave the district. Employees who drop out, or who do not complete the program through the partnership will refund the district 100% of received reimbursement at the time they leave the program. These employees will have the option to complete their coursework on their own through the UNT. Employees who leave the district after completing the program will refund the district on the following pro-rated amounts. Within one year (June June 2021)- $3,300 Within two years (July June 2022)- $2,200 Within three years (July June 2023) - $1,100

7 Application Process A letter of recommendation from applicant’s supervisor. An essay describing why applicant is seeking a M.Ed. in Educational Leadership. A resume that includes applicants previous work and educational experience. After review of submitted documents, selected applicants will be asked to come in to complete an interview with the selection committee before a final decision is made. Applicants will be notified of their selection or non-selection no later than March 2, 2018. Applicants must understand that the Eagle Leadership Development Program selection is competitive and program completion does not guarantee a position as a principal or assistant principal in Allen ISD.

8 Timeline January 16, 2018 – Present proposal to Board.
January 22, 2018 – Board consideration of MOU. January 23, 2018 – Advertise program to AISD staff. January 29th – February 23rd – AISD applications due to School Leadership Department. February 26th – Committee reviews applications and schedules interviews. February 27th – March 1st – Interviews with HR and School Leadership Department. March 2nd – Applicants notified of acceptance into initial cohort. March 5th – April 13th- Selected applicants apply to UNT Graduate School. May 2018 – Initial cohort invited to AISD orientation/welcome at Central Office with UNT and AISD leadership. Summer 2018 – Classes begin. Spring 2020 – Final semester of classes.
