Goals for Wave 1 Each hospital will show that > 90% of children ≤ 1 year of age will be in “safe sleep” position (own crib, nothing in crib and on back) on random audits by the end of the 10-month project. > 90% patients 1 year of age and younger will leave the hospital with information on safe sleep practices.

Results February 2014 – January 2015 5,343 total audits were performed
Observed to be in appropriate safe sleep Baseline 112/548 (20.4%, range 0–25.1%) End of collaborative Improved to 2925/4795 (61.0%, range 30–76.6%) One institution increased 25.1 to 76.6%

Greatest change was noted in the crib being empty (34.9% to 69.4%) Removing loose blankets (51.4% to 24.0%) Removing bumpers (6.4% to 0%) No significant change in Child's location (crib 91.1% to 93.9%) Child’s position (back 83.9 to 89.4%)
