CONTROVERSIAL HEALING
2
Matt. 9:27-34, “And when Jesus departed thence, two blind men followed him, crying, and saying, Thou Son of David, have mercy on us. And when he was come into the house, the blind men came to him: and Jesus saith unto them, Believe ye that I am able to do this? They said unto him, Yea, Lord. Then touched he their eyes, saying, According to your faith be it unto you. And their eyes were opened; and Jesus straitly charged them, saying, See that no man know it.
3
But they, when they were departed, spread abroad his fame in all that country. As they went out, behold, they brought to him a dumb man possessed with a devil. And when the devil was cast out, the dumb spake: and the multitudes marvelled, saying, It was never so seen in Israel. But the Pharisees said, He casteth out devils through the prince of the devils.”

INTRODUCTION There are many fake healers. Oral Roberts sent out his prayer clothes in The average number of prayer clothes mailed out were more than 100,000 a year.
5
In May 25, 1980, Oral had the vision of the 900 foot Jesus.
In 1986, Jesus supposedly came to Oral and said, “I want you to use the ORU medical school to put My medical presence in the earth. I want you to get this going in one year or I will call you home. It will cost $8 million and I want you to believe you can raise it.”
6
THE GOOD PHYSICIAN We will always have our Oral Roberts or Benny Hinn’s. These men are Beelzebub followers. Jesus was no fake. He collected no money for these healings. He built no complexes or hospitals. His mission was to save the Lost. The miracles were simply His signature as the Messiah (Jn. 20:30, 31).

I. THE HEALINGS
8
“And when Jesus departed thence, two blind men followed him.”
Basically, they followed the crowd. Their persistence is when others stopped at the door of the house, the blind men came to him.
9
two blind men followed him, crying, and saying, Thou Son of David, have mercy on us.
People were starting to recognize Christ as the Messiah. Hence the title, “Son of David.” Isa. 35:5, “Then the eyes of the blind shall be opened, and the ears of the deaf shall be unstopped.”
10
A QUESTION OF FAITH “Believe ye that I am able to do this? They said unto him, Yea, Lord. Then touched he their eyes, saying, According to your faith be it unto you. And their eyes were opened.” If you have a red letter KJV you will see that Jesus asked 173 questions during his ministry recorded in the gospels.
11
THE CHARGE and Jesus straitly charged them, saying, See that no man know it. But they, when they were departed, spread abroad his fame in all that country.
12
THE STORY REVEALED TO THE MASSES
This plea would become familiar. Matthew 20:30, “And, behold, two blind men sitting by the way side, when they heard that Jesus passed by, cried out, saying, Have mercy on us, O Lord, thou Son of David.”
13
Matt. 12:22, “Then was brought unto him one possessed with a devil, blind, and dumb: and he healed him, insomuch that the blind and dumb both spake and saw.” Matt. 15:30, “And great multitudes came unto him, having with them those that were lame, blind, dumb, maimed, and many others, and cast them down at Jesus' feet; and he healed them.”
14
The deaf man was charged not to tell anyone: Mark 7:36, “And he charged them that they should tell no man: but the more he charged them, so much the more a great deal they published it; And were beyond measure astonished, saying, He hath done all things well: he maketh both the deaf to hear, and the dumb to speak.”
15
THE SECOND HEALING “As they went out, behold, they brought to him a dumb man possessed with a devil. And when the devil was cast out, the dumb spake: and the multitudes marvelled, saying, It was never so seen in Israel. But the Pharisees said, He casteth out devils through the prince of the devils.”
16
The rejoicing of the two blind men who were healed urges others to bring their loved ones to the Messiah. This we see in the dumb man laid at the feet of Christ.
17
II. THE HAVOC
18
1. The Multitudes Marveled
“…and the multitudes marvelled, saying, It was never so seen in Israel.”
19
2. The Pharisees Grumbled
“But the Pharisees said, He casteth out devils through the prince of the devils.”
20
Luke 11:14-16, “And he was casting out a devil, and it was dumb
Luke 11:14-16, “And he was casting out a devil, and it was dumb. And it came to pass, when the devil was gone out, the dumb spake; and the people wondered. But some of them said, He casteth out devils through Beelzebub the chief of the devils. And others, tempting him, sought of him a sign from heaven.”
21
By such statements, the Pharisees were putting doubt in the minds of the people.
22
THREE EVILS EXISTED IN THE HEARTS OF THE PHARISEES
1) Envy: Matt. 27:18, “For he knew that for envy they had delivered him.” 2) Blasphemy: When Jesus spoke of the sin of blasphemy against the Holy Spirit, it was directed at the Pharisees that had just accused Christ again of being the prince of the devils (Matt. 12:24-32).
23
3) Self-Righteousness: Matt
3) Self-Righteousness: Matt. 9:11-13, “And when the Pharisees saw it, they said unto his disciples, Why eateth your Master with publicans and sinners? But when Jesus heard that, he said unto them, They that be whole need not a physician, but they that are sick. But go ye and learn what that meaneth, I will have mercy, and not sacrifice: for I am not come to call the righteous, but sinners to repentance.”
24
III. THE HONOR
25
There is no doubt that Jesus is the one to be honored.
He performed miracles in which the Pharisees could not do. He spoke with authority in which the Pharisees could not do.
26
John 5:23, “That all men should honour the Son, even as they honour the Father. He that honoureth not the Son honoureth not the Father which hath sent him.” John 5:41, “I receive not honour from men.” John 5:44, “How can ye believe, which receive honour one of another, and seek not the honour that cometh from God only?”
27
This statement alone causes one to sit up and take notice.
Never So Seen in Israel This statement alone causes one to sit up and take notice. Historical events define our lives. Pearl Harbor, the assassination of JFK, the fall of the Berlin Wall. Yet there has never been a greater event period in the history of man than when Jesus stepped into human skin two thousand years ago.
28
Matt. 12:41, “The men of Nineveh shall rise in judgment with this generation, and shall condemn it: because they repented at the preaching of Jonas; and, behold, a greater than Jonas is here.”
29
Heb. 2:7, “Thou madest him a little lower than the angels; thou crownedst him with glory and honour, and didst set him over the works of thy hands.”
