“Pickett’s Charge” Noon: 170 CSA gun bombardment begins
2PM: Troops advance 80 Union guns unleash carnage Hancock moves Union troops to angles for enfilade fire Some Rebel units turn around; only a few make it to Union line.

“The Angle” or “High Water Mark”
CSA Gen. Louis Armistead led a group of 300 Virginians into the Union line. The general was mortally wounded, and his attack was repulsed.

Lee’s army retreats to VA. Meade gives chase, but allows Lee to escape. Union celebrates ‘the turning point of the war’.
