4 Welly sheds Field will be available to the children all year round
Children to bring in a set of wellies, old trainers or walking shoes suitable for playing/working on the field in all weathers Please make sure they are named!

5 Expectations My hopes for your children: Enjoyment of school and learning – a child learns best and achieves more when they are happy!  Prepared to make mistakes – they help us learn Having a good growth mindset Independence A motivation to learn Trying their best at all times A good partnership between the child, their parents and the school

6 Guided Reading & Planners:
Homework Guided Reading & Planners: Homework is given on your child’s guided reading day to be returned on the same day the following week Planners will also be taken in on the guided reading day Your child should bring in their AR folder, including their homework book and planner every day.

7 Homework Spellings: Spellings will be given on a Monday – they will be stuck inside their homework book. Test will be on Friday Children will be given the list of 104 spellings that children are required to know by the end of year 4- these will be tested and updated on a termly basis.

8 Homework Maths: MyMaths online homework – goes live on Friday to be completed by the following Friday

9 SUMMER TERM The Victorians
Topics for SPRING TERM Geography focus of mountains and rivers. AUTUMN TERM Main theme is History and Geography based on the civilisation of the Ancient Egyptians. SUMMER TERM The Victorians

10 Partnership There are several things you can do as parents to support your child & their learning. Planners – fill in weekly Reading – putting comments in their planners. Homework- spellings will be set on Monday and maths will be set on Friday. Times tables – we will complete the challenge on a weekly basis. Guided Reading Homework– on allotted day.

11 Concerns If you have any worries or concerns, please come in and see me as soon as possible. The quicker I know about it, the sooner I can sort it out. If you are unable to come in, send a note or phone & speak to Mrs Houldsworth, Mrs Hilditch or Mrs King who will relay your message to me. Communication between home and school is very important to us.

12 Visits out of school One world festival Manchester museum Swimming
Tatton Park Standon Bowers I will try to organise a trip for each half term to give the children experiences to support their learning. I may invite people into school instead to deliver workshops which will support the curriculum but avoid the cost of transport.

13 Helpers in class I would welcome help making topic books, working with children, hearing readers or accompanying us on out of school visits. You may have a special skill you’d like to share with us like sewing, baking or building… Please let me know if you could do this on a regular basis or occasionally.
