Another method for marking text for a table of contents. select text press Alt + Shift + O click automatically displays nonprinting characters and inserts a field code after selected text

If you mark the table of content entries as fields, you will need to activate the Table entry fields option when compiling the table of contents. Insert, Reference, Index and Tables click to insert a check mark

click anywhere within the current table of contents on Outlining toolbar OR press F9 select option

After a concordance file has been created and saved, it can be used to quickly mark text for an index. Insert, Reference, Index and Tables Word searches and marks the document. - insert Index as described earlier select concordance file

A list (table) of figures allows the reader to quickly locate a specific figure. The easiest method is to mark figure names as captions and then use the caption names to create the table. Insert, Reference, Caption

A list of citations identifying the pages where citations appear in a legal brief or other legal document. - find first occurrence of the citation, mark it as a full citation with the complete name, and then specify a short citation select text press Alt + Shift + I edit and format as you want it to appear in table select Category Mark or Mark All edit and format so it matches the short citation you want Word to search for
