1 Lesson Starter What is the job of the nerve cell?
What is special about the nerve cell?

2 Lesson 11- Cell Organisation
Cells Alive Lesson 11- Cell Organisation

3 Today we are going to.. Learn how all the different cells in our bodies are organised

4 Unicellular Organisms
Some organisms are only made up of one cell Amoeba has everything they need within their one cell to survive

5 Multicellular Organisms
Multicellular organisms are made of 2 or more cells: What multicellular organisms can you think of?

6 Multicellular organisms

7 Cell Organisation There are many different types of cells (adapted cells) in a multicellular organism In large multi-cellular organisms (like humans), groups of adapted cells can work together in order to carry out the same job- this is called a TISSUE Tissues then join together in order to make an organ Cells Tissues Organs

8 Watch the video..

9 Copy: A tissue is a group of cells which perform a specific function

10 Paired task List as many human organs that you can think of
Can you think of the job each of these organs carries out?

13 Body systems Our organs all work together in a body system There are lots of different systems in our body! With the person next to you, try and come up with as many as you can!

14 Nervous system The nervous system consists of your: Nerves Spinal cord
Brain Electrical impulses (messages) are sent from the brain (or spinal cord) to the nerves.

15 Digestive System The digestive system consists of the mouth, oesophagus, stomach, intestines and anus Food enters through the mouth and follows the digestive pathway until leaving the body as waste

16 Respiratory System The respiratory system consists of the: Lungs
Trachea (windpipe) Associated blood vessels Oxygen is breathed in and carbon dioxide released

17 Circulatory System The circulatory system consists of: The heart
Blood vessels Blood is circulated throughout the body carrying the nutrients needed.

18 Whole Organism The different systems in our bodies work together in order to form a WHOLE ORGANISM Cells Tissues Organs Systems Organism

19 Plants also have organs and systems

20 Plants The root Takes in water and nutrients from the soil to help the plant grow. Also ANCHORS the plant.
