1 Life Processes: A Poem in two voices
EQ: How are life processes carried out by unicellular and multicellular processes?

2 We have been comparing how unicellular and multicellular organisms carry out life processes
We know: Unicellular organisms have just one cell Multicellular organisms have 2 or more cells Both have all six characteristics of living things Both carry on life processes to obtain food, water, oxygen and eliminate waste Unicellular and multicellular organisms are systems that are working to maintain homeostasis Homeostasis is a stable internal environment that allows an organism and its cells to survive Water levels through osmosis Energy (sugar levels) through photosynthesis/cellular respiration Cell repair through mitosis Today you will exhibit your depth of understanding of the similarities and differences between unicellular and multicellular organisms by creating a Poem In Two Voices You may use your clipped notes and the anchor notes to assist

3 I am a mineral (difference) (similarity) I am a rock I am a pure substance. I am made of one type of element found in the periodic table SCORE: 3 The information is accurate and is explained in great detail We are both naturally-occurring, meaning that we are not made by man SCORE: 3 (The information is accurate and is explained in great detail) I am a mixture. I am made of many different substances SCORE : 2 The information is accurate, but the explanation is vague I am silicate and non-silicate. Silicate minerals contain the element silicon, non-silicate minerals do not Score: 3 We are both found in the ground. SCORE 1 The information is accurate, but the explanation is missing I am igneous, sedimentary and more SCORE: 0 The information and/or the description is inaccurate/wrong A Poem in Two Voices You will be comparing and contrasting unicellular and multicellular organisms Be careful --- think about your examples. Truly make them come together as one in your “same” column. Use the correct voice (“I” and “we”) Be thorough --- offer ALL information known!
