Application for funding received by Funder Application Stage Follow normal process plus Funder to complete High Cost ETCs at Application template and send to dedicated address Follow normal triage process Are the ETC for the study above £1M and/or average ETCs per patient is above £20,000? No Yes Providing NHS England and DHSC with early sight of the pipeline of studies with high cost ETCs will allow preparation to be put in place to ensure a smooth and prompt evaluation process. No decisions around funding of ETCs will be made at this stage. Funding Stage Yes, subject to changes Funder to inform researchers that the SoECAT will need to be up revised to reflect the changes and a signed off version from the AcoRD specialist resubmitted End No Research funding agreed? Yes Follow normal process plus Funder to complete High Cost ETCs at Funding template and send the template along with the SoECAT to the dedicated address Follow normal triage process Are the ETC for the study above £1M and/or average ETCs per patient is above £20,000? No Yes An assessment of clinical alignment will be conducted by the relevant expert/ representative and a decision made whether to fund ETCs. Funder notified of the decision via The High Cost Threshold Process will run in parallel with the normal triage and cost assurance process for Specialised Commissioning.
