Do Not:
Choose a book because you’ve seen the movie/ tv show and were inspired to read the book.
Pick up any old book and just ‘make do’
Pick a book from the young adult section

3. What ARE you going to look for…
You want to find a book that pushes you completely out of your comfort zone.
Get out of the Teen/Young Adult section
Take on heavier subject matter/ is set in a different time period than our own?
Search for a book where you have the opportunity to gain insight about someone else’s life.
Opening up your world to another person’s experience.

You have 28 days to finish your book. Final Day: June 5th
How many pages is your book?
How many pages would you have to read everyday to keep on track?
Ex. 500 page book/28 days
= 17.8 pages
= 18 pages everyday

As you read your novel you must be inferring and considering what the author has done on purpose.
It might be…
An item that the characters possess
A color that the author uses
A character in and of themselves (Frankenstein’s monster)
An animal
Can ideas in your novel be represented by a NOUN (person, place, thing)?

11. Symbolizes: fear, death, misunderstanding, selfishness, scientific curiosity.
Frankenstein is a character in the novel, but he grows to symbolize even more than he is.
