2. Task
Using DTP and an image manipulation program, produce the front page of a new school/college magazine, featuring a photograph of a student in medium close-up plus some appropriately laid-out text and a masthead.
Additionally you must produce a DTP mock-up of the layout of the contents page to demonstrate your grasp of the program.

3. Preparation
This cover suggests that there’s a lot of information in the magazine as there are a lot of text/images. The layout does look quite unorganized, as does the title – but it’s eye catching because of the bright colours and people would probably buy it. I dislike how the magazine looks like it was created by a boy, this may appeal less to girls.
I like the simplicity of this cover and how all the information inside is displayed on the front. The title is eye-catching and the layout is well structured. I will probably use a similar layout with the picture having a similar placement. However, there doesn’t seem to be a colour scheme apparent in this cover, so I will not be using the same colours.
I dislike the layout of this cover as the way the words overlap the picture make it look messy. There is a colour scheme, but it isn’t very eye-catching and from a glance, the cover can look boring. Also, the picture looks like a random girl and it doesn’t suggest that the magazine is for students, it looks more like a magazine for just teenagers. I definitely will not be taking ideas from this cover.

4. Proposal Audience: Ages 11-18 (year 7 – sixth form)
Style: Chatty but with educational information
Images: Of students I have photographed and found pictures of online.
Other information: Including information for both boys and girls, also different sections for different ages.

7. Plan - Images
I will be taking photographs of students within Grace Academy and/or getting some online – they will then be incorporated into the magazine on the front cover and the contents page. I will also be taking photographs around the school/of the building for new students.
