Slave Distribution in the New World

Why? Why only Africans and Natives?
Why African and not Native American forced labor? Why from these parts of Africa?

The Slave Trade Spanish Governor of Hispaniola Diego Colon (son of Christopher Columbus) - wrote to King Ferdinand of Spain to complain about a labor shortage on the island of Hispaniola. Began in British 13 Colonies (modern USA) in 1619 when Dutch slave traders arrived in Jamestown, VA for work on large tobacco farms (plantations).

African Diaspora Approximately 12 million Africans had been enslaved and shipped to the Western Hemisphere; of these, perhaps 2 million died during the voyage.

The Middle Passage Defined as the voyage between Africa and the Americas. Cost thousands (some say millions) their lives because of horrific conditions.
