Example word problem involving length:
“I Can” Statements Reading- *These standards are for our six week unit. Therefore, we will focus on some more than others each week, however we will hit all of them this unit . RL 2.1 I can ask and answer questions to show that I understand key details in the text. RI 2.2 I can identify the main topic of a multi-paragraph text. RI 2.4 I can determine the meaning of words and phrases in a text RI 2.5 I can know and use different text-features to locate key information in a text ( for example: captions, illustrations, headings, etc.). RL 2.7 I can explain how images clarify a text. RL 2.8 I can describe how reasons support specific points the author tries to make in a text. Math 2. OA. 1 I can solve addition and subtraction word problems within 100. 2.NBT.5 I can fluently add and subtract within 100 using strategies based on place value. 2. NBT.7 I can add and subtract within 1,000 using concrete models or drawings and strategies based on place value, properties of operations, and/or the relationship between addition and subtraction. 2. MD. 5 I can subtract to solve word problems that involve length. Example word problem involving length: Jason was playing with both of his toy cars. His blue car can travel 54 inches on its own. His red car can travel 47 inches on its own. What is the difference in how far the two cars can travel?
