Objectives Explain the kinetic theory of matter.
Distinguish among states of matter in terms of energy, properties, and particle arrangement. CLE Investigate the relationship among the pressure, temperature, and volume of gases and liquids. Knox County Performance Indicator: The student will be able to identify the four states of matter based on volume, shape, and particle arrangement.

All matter is composed of small particles.
The particles are in constant, random motion. Particles collide with each other and walls of their containers.
