HUMOR activity 4.9 Learning Goal: I can analyze the effect of hyperbole in poetry, and identify hyperbole in print and non-print texts.

Update your vocabulary words: yarn, alliteration, allusion Define them in your binder.
1. Read and annotate “They Have Yarns” on p 2. Use a separate highlighter to identify the VERBALS 3. Do #5 on p. 276 write two additional lines including a hyperbole, participial phrase and an allusion 4. In partners, read “Mooses” and identify hyperbole and verbals within the poem. We will discuss the after reading questions together and complete the Check Your Understanding as a class.
