2 Mandate? 2004 survey: 57% said some form of qualification/training would help 2005 working group: HECA qualification too expensive 2007 survey: 71% stated training as support method they wanted 2009 survey: 52% would welcome training as a support mechanism Often suggested at chairs’ away days Training included in 2009/10 work programme

4 Costs Possible avenue to generate income
Could promote CAN as leaders in the field Should fit in with council budgets Must also cover cost and generate revenue Must consider cost of hiring in external trainers

b) What training topics/areas could be offered? c) Arguments for and against? d) Accreditation (CPD) or non-accredited? e) Delivery - national/regional - and frequency? f) Separate event or 1-day conference seminar or workshop? g) Linked with existing university (MSc) course modules? h) Costs involved in set up and delivery
