Affirmative Past (Positive)
To express an event that took place in the past we add ed to the regular verb. Mariam baked delicious cookies last week. bake ed baked + =

Negative Past Conan made a revelation. All the students lied.
Adam plant some flowers. did not Sam hike in the woods. did not Sarah celebrate her birthday. did not To express a negative event in the past we use did, not and verb in base form.

Interrogative So Conan had to do some more investigation to discover the truth. He asked the student’s mother. NO, they didn’t. Did Adam plant some flowers? Did Sam hike in the woods? Did Sarah celebrate her birthday? To interrogate using past tens, use Did, and verb in base form.

Wh Questions What did everyone do last week???????? To form a wh question in the past, use a wh word (when, what , where, who..etc.) + did + verb in base form. They played computer games all week.
