What is point of view? Point of View: the perspective a story is told from In other words, who is telling the story A text's point of view is determined based on the pronouns the author uses.

Thanksgiving dinner's sad and thankless Christmas dinner's dark and blue When you stop and try to see it From a turkey's point of view. Sunday dinner isn't sunny Easter feasts are just bad luck When you see it from the viewpoint Of a chicken or a duck. Oh, how I once loved tuna salad Pork and lobsters, lamb chops too 'Til I stopped and looked at dinner From the dinner's point of view.

Point of View Notes First Person: told by a character from the story
- I, me, we, us Second Person: the writer talks directly to the reader - you

Third Person: told by a narrator
-he, she, they, them Third Person Objective: the narrator only knows what is seen or heard - think of this as seeing a story through the camera's eyes Third Person Limited: the narrator knows what one character is thinking or feeling -the narrator is limited in their knowledge of feelings and thoughts Third Person Omniscient: the narrator knows all -the narrator knows everyone's thoughts and feelings
