Pediatric Patients ages 0-15
A total of 27 patients in 2015 arrived at Region VIII hospitals; 21 arrived via EMS and 6 walked in. All 27 arrests occurred outside of the hospitals. The initial rhythm for 26 of the patients was asystole, with 1 PEA.
The patients have been broken down into 6 age-group categories:
0-30 days
1-5 months
6-11 months
1-5 years
6-12 years
13-15 years

Of the patients age 0-30 DAYS: 5 were premature births; 1 with URI symptoms and was co-sleeping
Of the patients age 1-5 MONTHS: 3 with no known pre-existing conditions and unknown events leading up to CPA; 1 with genetic abnormality (respiratory distress during feeding; 2 were co-sleeping with no known pre-existing conditions
Of the patients age 6-11 MONTHS: 1 with URI symptoms and was co-sleeping; 1 vomiting; 1 with OM and fever
Of the patients age 1-5 YEARS: 2 with no known pre-existing conditions and unknown events leading up to CPA; 1 with no known pre-existing conditions found stuck between furniture; 1 fall with history of premature birth; 1 with history of hydrocephalus but unknown events leading up to CPA; 1 with URI symptoms and was co-sleeping
Of the patients age 6-12 YEARS: 1 with history of asthma, wheezing prior to CPA; 2 with no pre-existing conditions; 1 with fever; 1 with unknown events leading to CPA
Of the patients age YEARS: 1 with a history of Prader, abdominal pain prior to CPA; 1 with history of seizures and brain atrophy, found with a ball lodged in airway; 1 with no pre-existing conditions committed suicide
