Winter Numeracy Literacy Social Studies Expressive Arts Technologies
At Glenmanor, we are committed to learning and we have created an interdisciplinary plan to ensure continued learning during any school closures. The following activities can be carried out with your child. Numeracy count to 20 and beyond (numbers to 50 P2) write the number and beyond in the snow (numbers 1 – 20 P2) make 3 large snowballs. Join the snowballs together to make a snowman. Add 2 large stones for eyes. Add 1 carrot as a nose. Add 7 stones to make a mouth. Add 2 sticks as arms. lie in the snow and do 20 snow angles. collect winter clothes. Sort them according to size and colour. Complete simple adding sums within 10 e.g = Draw 2D shapes patterns in the snow Practice your Learn Its Literacy Using your common word and sound flash cards, revise all taught sounds and common words Write the alphabet in the snow (some phonemes P2) Write common words in the snow Winter alphabet – think of a winter themed word for each letter of the alphabet. Acrostic poem – write an acrostic poem using a winter word of your choice, e.g. snow Read your reading book and design a new front cover Read and listen to winter themed stories. Write a sentence and draw a picture to show your favourite part of the story. read/listen to weather reports. Create your own weather report and perform it to an audience. write a weather diary write a story that is set on one snowy night P1 and P1/2 Learning Plan During School Closure Social Studies Go a winter sensory walk. Tell, draw or write 1 thing you can see, hear, smell, taste, touch. Use ice cubes to make an igloo home. Expressive Arts design and create a winter wonderland make some snowflakes practise singing your Nativity songs Technologies Go onto study ladder and play some of the Set Tasks (study ladder passwords to follow) Winter Health & Wellbeing Play outdoors. Get lots of exercise. Stay safe and have FUN!!!
