2 What’s on my Ballot? In the State of Georgia, there are 5 proposed constitutional amendments changes for the 2018 Georgia General Election. In the State of Georgia, there are 2 proposed statewide referendums for the 2018 Georgia General Election. Each municipality/city/county will have their own special election initiatives.

3 Amendments vs Referendums vs Special Elections
WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE? Proposed Constitutional Amendments Definition: A modification of the constitution of a nation or state Proposed State Wide Referendums Definition: A general vote by the electorate on a single political question that has been referred to them for a direct decision. Special Election Initiatives Definition: Process that enables citizens to bypass their state legislature by placing proposed statutes and, in some states, constitutional amendments on the ballot .

4 State of Georgia Proposed Constitutional Amendment Changes
Proposed Constitutional Amendments Amendment 1: Creates the Georgia Outdoor Stewardship Trust Fund to protect water quality, wildlife habitat, and parks. Amendment 2: Creates a state-wide business court to lower costs, enhance efficiency, and promote predictable judicial outcomes. Amendment 3: Encourages the conservations, sustainability, and longevity of Georgia’s working forests through tax sub-classification and grants.

Proposed Statewide Referendums Referendum A: Provides for a homestead exemption for residents of certain municipal corporations. Referendum B: Provides a tax exemption for certain homes for the mentally disabled.
