4 1.1 Joining the European processes Council Regulation (EC) No 1165/98 with the Amendment to the CR provides guidelines for conducting of STS-statistics, for example: Methodology, Data processing, Timeliness and other components of the EU countries STS-statistics results.

5 1.2 Scope of STS-statistics on service activities Widely, STS-statistics on service activities in SORS includes: Retail trade and motor trade statistics; Hotels and restaurants statistics; Other service statistics.

6 1.3 Inquiries within STS-statistics on service activities Monthly statistics on turnover and persons working in the enterprises comprises three surveys, regarding the main activity of the enterprise: TRG/M - retail trade and motor trade activities; GO/M - hotels and restaurants activities; STOR/M - supporting and auxiliary transport activities, travel agencies, post and telecommunications, computer and related activ., enterprise activities, other service activities.

7 1.4 Significance of the length of the data series and base year Significance of the length of the data series regarding the further processing of the results, e.g. working-day adjustment and seasonal adjustment (at least 3-5 years); Significance of the determination of the base year - in order to be able to calculate the EU aggregate.

8 2. Review of turnover fluctuations in STS service activities The fluctuation of turnover (excl. VAT) in the following activities: 2.1 Retail trade; 2.2 Motor trade; 2.3 Hotels and restaurants; 2.4 Supporting and auxiliary transport activities and travel agencies; 2.5 Post and telecommunications; 2.6 Computer and related activities; 2.7 Enterprise activities; 2.8 Other service activities.

17 Further implementation of STS- statistics on service activities includes Harmonization with the regulation, regarding the newly included activities (e.g. land transport, transport via pipelines, water transport, air transport); Working-day adjustment and seasonal adjustment of some at present too short data series; Collecting of information on deflators for some service activities; Quality assessment and increasing of quality of the data; Shortening of time for the data publishing and automation of the data dissemination process.
