Shands has a 24-hour 7 day a week Patient Safety Hotline for staff and physicians to report serious patient safety events. Call or call the Shands operator and ask for the “Patient Safety Hotline.” Risk Managers staff the 24-hour hotline to assist with the management and reporting of any serious safety event. The Risk Managers will assist and provide guidance including: Accessing chain of command; Communication with patients and families; Sequestering equipment; Best actions to take to minimize harm to the patient; Documentation of the event and Entering a PSR.
