MTUS MTUS developed by CTUR > 25 years
70 surveys from 20 developed societies Includes Europe, North America, Pacific Rim Evidence back to the early 1960s Permits longer term historical and wider geographical comparisons than HETUS. We seek collaboration of Working Group to include most recent HETUS materials.

About the MTUS Three main file types: Aggregate File Sequence File
Case=day; time in 69 activities, 52 ancillary + key variables: 40 surveys. Sequence File Case=event; key vars, primary & secondary coded to 69 categories, co-presence, location. Simple File Case=day; time in 25 activities, 20 ancillary + key variables: 60 surveys.

MTUS Access Modes Researcher access modes differ by donor country.
Mode C: harmonisation code only distributed by CTUR. Mode B: NSI authorises user and notifies CTUR, which releases harmonized anonymized data file. Mode A: CTUR releases harmonized anonymized data file on receipt of researcher undertaking.

CTUR Proposal and Request
HETUS “Finlandised” files are released by NSIs, in confidence, to CTUR to write harmonisation code to generate MTUS files–prior to any release agreement. If possible, each NSI agrees to one of the three modes of MTUS data release (A preferred to B preferred to C)
