Update Since November, 2017, one of the major achievement identification of preliminary index basket of 105 Bhutan Trade Classification (BTC) codes for imports from India and 105 BTC codes for imports from COTI ( Countries other than India). These codes cover around 50 percent of the value of imports

5 1. 3. History of the Project Identified as high priority during the Statistical System assessment by ESCAP 2011 In June, 2017, with the offer of technical assistance by ESCAP, the National Statistics Bureau and Escape entered into undertaking this project.

6 4. Data Sources The Department of Revenue and Customs is the key source of our data since they are responsible for compilation of the Trade Statistics on a periodic basis. Druk Green Power Corporation is also one of the data sources as they maintain data on export and import of electricity on a daily basis.

7 5. Services Based on the current assessment there is a lack of good data for services. Will discuss with the consultant during his forthcoming visit in the end of May and seek his recommendations for incorporating the service sector.

8 6. Next Steps The Consultant will visit us during the last week of May 2018. Based on his feedback and recommendations, the NSB shall make the next action plan.
