Betelgeuse Betelgeuse - the ninth-brightest star in the night sky and second-brightest in the constellation of Orion. The star is classified as a red supergiant one of the largest and most luminous observable stars. If Betelgeuse were at the center of the Solar System, its surface would extend past the asteroid belt, possibly to the orbit of Jupiter and beyond, wholly engulfing Mercury, Venus, Earth and Mars. Estimates of its mass are poorly constrained, but range from 5 to 30 times that of the Sun. Its distance from Earth was estimated in 2008 at 640 light-years 1ly = × 1015 miles

4 In addition to a 3, you identify how day and night plays are role in seasons throughout the year. 3 Your poster must explain & illustrate: How Earth’s tilt on its axis changes the length of daylight and creates the seasons The relationship between the tilt of Earth's axis and its yearly orbit around the sun and how that creates seasons Clarify misconceptions about why we have seasons Your poster must be neat and organized with colored illustrations 2 Some of the above information is missing/incorrect 1 The majority of the above information is missing/incorrect

Power Paragraph How does the Earth’s tilt, rotation & revolution cause seasons and day/night patterns? Be descriptive and give examples. Use evidence from the videos and/or classwork/reading. 4 In addition to a 3, your paragraph is exceptionally well-written, organized and uses outstanding word choices/voice. 3 Your introduction explains the topic of this paragraph (see above question) You have 3 sets of yellow and pink explaining: How tilt causes seasons How revolution causes seasons How rotation causes day/night cycles. Disprove a misconception You have included proper transitions Your paragraph is free of convention errors Your paragraph is highlighted appropriately 2 Some of the above information is missing/incorrect.
