“Search Off” Exercise Develop a Patient-Intervention-Comparison-Outcome (PICO) question based on a clinical scenario. Develop a list of search terms. Divide the class/clinic into teams. Each team will search a different database using any combination of search terms. Example of databases include: PTNow CPGs, PubMed, CINAHL, Google Scholar. The first team to find a CPG published within the last 5 years stands up and proclaims victory!

Modifications Each team needs to find a certain number of CPGs before proclaiming victory Rather than directing them to find a CPG, each team is directed to find the highest level of evidence Repeat the “search off” several times, with different PICOs, and keep track of which database is involved with the winning team
