Virtualization Charles Warren
2
General Concept To merge clusters of physical resources across many host machines into logical partitions or guests that don’t run on a single device, but run in parallel across many hosts.
3
Platform Virtualization Vs Desktop Virtualization
Platform Virtualization refers to the creation of a virtual machine that acts like a real computer with an operating system. Desktop virtualization is the concept of separating the logical desktop from the physical machine.

Different Hypervisors
A hypervisor runs on the hardware of the hosts and serves as the interface to the guest’s OS There are many different hypervisors, but we will be focusing on two: VMware vSphere/ESXi Windows Hyper-V Virtual Box
5
vSphere and ESXi vSphere: Functions as the controller and is the interface in which the cluster is managed. ESXi: This is the hypervisor and it runs on the host devices providing an interface to the controller. Terms: Just put a “v” in front of it and it is probably a thing... vCPU - The allocation of CPU Time as a resource. vRAM - An ideal representation of the storage resource. vGPU - Virtual GPU...
