2. What is Kindergarten Common Core?
Making sure students are able to understand key ideas - doing this by continuously retelling the story
Focusing on the memorization of high-frequency words.
Making sure students know basic grammar (i.e capitalization of ‘i’s)

3. Speaking and Listening Standards - Comprehension and Collaboration
Have students participate in collaborative conversations with partners
Confirm the student’s understanding of the text read aloud by asking and answering questions about details
Have students ask and answer questions in order to seek help, get information, or to clarify something that is not understood

4. Speaking and Listening Standards - Presentation of Knowledge and Ideas
Have students describe familiar people, places, things, and events and, with prompting and support, provide additional detail
Have students add drawings or other visual displays to descriptions to provide additional detail
Make sure students speak audibly and express thoughts, feelings, and ideas clearly
