3.9. Follow up of actions related to the repealing of CVTS legislation

CVTS negative priority in 2012
Defining a simplified data set to be transmitted in the future (see table page 3 of the doc.) Repealing the existing EP and Council Regulation (on CVTS only, adopted in 2005)

Simplification Moving from 14 topics to 6 topics
Standalone Survey to enterprises no longer legally required (flexibility at national level) Possibility to use alternative sources to measure some of the topics (AES, LCS)

Repealing New (future) requirements with reference to existing EP and Council Regulation on education and lifelong learning statistics (adopted in 2008) Repealing "introduced" when the new (future) requirements are endorsed by the ESSC

Milestones and Timetable
November 2012 to March 2013: 2 TF meetings (in relation with LAMAS WG for use of LCS) April & June 2013: consultation "ETS" Working Group September 2013: DSS November 2013: ESSC This allows new requirements to be: on time for CVTS 5 (in 2016, on 2015 activities) available when repealing is launched (beg. 2014)

CVTS 4 (field work) Dissemination of preliminary results on Eurostat website from December 2012! Ongoing discussion with some countries (including situation of late data transmission)

Conclusion The DSS is invited to agree:
on the up-dated timetable (2 TF meetings, consultation of the ETS WG until June 2013) to discuss a proposal for a restricted CVT data collection in the September 2013 DSS meeting.
