Gases take the shape of the container and change their volume. Solids maintain their shape, and stay the same volume Liquids take the shape of the container but keep their volume.

Mars Material…40 Purpose: To identify if an unknown substance is a solid, liquid or a gas. Procedure: I have an unknown material from Mars. You are to touch it, manipulate it, smell it, NO TASTING!!

Conclusion: Pick a side. Write a short letter to NASA telling them the Mars material is a solid/liquid or gas. Give them reasons why you think it is a solid/liquid or gas. Also include in your letter why it isn’t the other phase of matter and why Dear NASA,
