What is Board Development?
“Board Development refers enhancing the skills of board members to effectively fill their role in governing the corporation. Helps board members to understand their role, build communication skills, run effective board meetings, make policy decisions and provide leadership.”

Who do we want to be? How do we engage with each other? How do we engage with staff? How do we communicate to our constituents?

Timing and Schedule Step One Define the Vision and Goals
- Two full-day meetings completed by end of June Step Two Engage in Board Development based on vision and goals - completed by end of July - Series of 4 to hour meetings

Timing and Schedule Step Three Complete Strategic Plan
Refine goals, create action steps How will goals be accomplished, by who and when? Two meetings about 3 hours each completed by mid August
