4 Class Discussion First on your own write down your answer to the question: What side would you have been on, isolationist or interventionist? Why? Give at least two reasons. We will discuss as a class shortly.

5 Lend Lease Act In 1940, President Franklin Roosevelt declared that the U.S. would be the "Arsenal of Democracy." USA = array of resources + democracy There was still opposition to the idea of supplying the Allies but Americans began to take the view that the risk of doing nothing was too high  but the cost of entering & fighting in the war directly was even higher. Eventually F.D.R. brought “Lend-Lease” idea to Congress and was passed through. Now the Allies would receive the supplies they desperately needed to fight the Axis powers.
