1 Counting the Costs Luke 14:25-35

2 Counting the Costs Vs. 26-27: The kind of commitment required.
God is very clear about the dangers of sin. He is equally clear about the costs of discipleship. Mark 10:29-31: Many different sacrifices will be required, depending on our situation.

3 Counting the Costs Vs. 28-32: Commitment requires sacrifice
Rom. 12:2: Salvation requires change, change requires sacrifice. We are not investing a few dollar, but rather our entire lives to the service of God. Matt. 13:44: The kingdom is worth everything. Do you recognize the tremendous worth of God’s kingdom?

4 Counting the Costs Vs. 33: The necessity of commitment:
Rom. 6:16, 20: Before salvation we were committed to sin. We would give up much to practice it. We would pursue it with great zeal Rom. 6:18: In order to have salvation, we must become fully committed to righteousness. Also giving up much and pursuing it with great zeal. Luke 14:33: Without such commitment we cannot be His disciples.

5 Conclusion We make many sacrifices for the things we love:
Family Property Future Rom. 8:18: The hope of eternal life is greater than anything in this life. What is that worth to you?
