8-hour Ozone Designation/Implementation Timeline
Summer 2000 – States submitted initial designation and boundary recommendations to EPA November 2002 – EPA issues schedule for 8-hr designations and effect on Early Action Compact areas February 2003 – EPA issued designation guidance to extend deadline from April 2003 to July 2003 for States/Tribes to submit revised or new recommendations to EPA on designations April 2003 – EPA Proposes implementation rule July 15, 2003 – States/Tribes submit revised or new recommendations to EPA on designations October-December 2003 – EPA notifies States/Tribes of modifications to recommendations on designations December 2003 – EPA issues final implementation rule April 15, 2004 – EPA promulgates designations April 2007 – States submit plans (Tribes can elect to submit plans) – Range of attainment dates
