3. A 45 year old man presents with sudden onset of shaking chills, fever and productive cough. He was in good health one week ago when he developed mild nasal congestion and body aches. Last night he became feverish and developed cough with right sided pleuritic chest pain. He is smoker. On examination Temperature - 102oF O2 saturation on room air – 100% Chest examination – bronchial breath sounds and end-inspiratory crackles in right lower lung field. Percussion note dull at this area.

Most commonly caused by S pneumoniae. Other organism M pneumoniae, Haemophilus influenza
Oral antibiotic
Relief pain
Antipyrettic
Cough suppressants
