2 Tutor = Teacher = Schoolmaster
(Galatians 3:24) Therefore the law was our tutor to bring us to Christ, that we might be justified by faith. (Romans 15:4) For whatever things were written before were written for our learning, that we through the patience and comfort of the Scriptures might have hope. (1 Corinthians 10:11) Now all these things happened to them as examples, and they were written for our admonition, upon whom the ends of the ages have come. Tutor = Teacher = Schoolmaster

3 The Gospel is Part of… God’s Eternal Plan

4 (Ephesians 1:3-6) Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly places in Christ, just as He chose us in Him before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy and without blame before Him in love, having predestined us to adoption as sons by Jesus Christ to Himself, according to the good pleasure of His will, to the praise of the glory of His grace, by which He has made us accepted in the Beloved. (NKJV)

5 Which God? O.T. N.T.

6 God’s Attributes… Are Governed By His Character…
God Is Holy God’s Attributes… Are Governed By His Character… Omniscient (All-Knowing) Omnipotent (All-Powerful) Omnipresent (All-Present)

7 God Is Holy (Job 34:10-12) “…Far be it from God to do wickedness, And from the Almighty to commit iniquity. For He repays man according to his work, And makes man to find a reward according to his way. Surely God will never do wickedly, Nor will the Almighty pervert justice.

8 God Is Holy (Psalms 5:5) The boastful shall not stand in Your sight; You hate all workers of iniquity.

9 Two Characteristics of God
(Psalms 33:4-5) For the word of Jehovah is right; And all his work is done in faithfulness. He loveth righteousness and justice: The earth is full of the lovingkindness of Jehovah. (ASV) God’s holiness is demonstrated through His justice& love toward His creation.

10 God demands moral uprightness in His creatures because He is Holy!
A Holy God (Habakkuk 1:13) You are of purer eyes than to behold evil, And cannot look on wickedness. Why do You look on those who deal treacherously, And hold Your tongue when the wicked devours A person more rightous than he? (NKJV) God demands moral uprightness in His creatures because He is Holy!

11 (Isaiah 59:2) But your iniquities have separated you from your God; And your sins have hidden His face from you, So that He will not hear. (NKJV)

12 Sin Brings About Spiritual Death
(Ephesians 2:1) And you He made alive, who were dead in trespasses and sins, (NKJV)

13 Justice Demands a Payment
(Romans 6:23) For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord. (NKJV)

14 Justice Demands a Payment
(Hebrews 9:22) And according to the law almost all things are purified with blood, and without shedding of blood there is no remission. (NKJV)

15 The penalty for sin requires a payment.
(Genesis 2:16-17) And the LORD God commanded the man, saying, "Of every tree of the garden you may freely eat; "but of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil you shall not eat, for in the day that you eat of it you shall surely die." (NKJV) (Genesis 3:3) "but of the fruit of the tree which is in the midst of the garden, God has said, 'You shall not eat it, nor shall you touch it, lest you die.'" (NKJV)

16 The penalty for sin requires a payment.
(2 Peter 2:4-9) For if God did not spare the angels who sinned, but cast them down to hell and delivered them into chains of darkness, to be reserved for judgment; and did not spare the ancient world, but saved Noah, one of eight people, a preacher of righteousness, bringing in the flood on the world of the ungodly; and turning the cities of Sodom and Gomorrah into ashes, condemned them to destruction, making them an example to those who afterward would live ungodly; and delivered righteous Lot, who was oppressed by the filthy conduct of the wicked (for that righteous man, dwelling among them, tormented his righteous soul from day to day by seeing and hearing their lawless deeds) -- then the Lord knows how to deliver the godly out of temptations and to reserve the unjust under punishment for the day of judgment, (NKJV)

17 The penalty for sin requires a payment.
(Ezekiel 18:20) "The soul who sins shall die. The son shall not bear the guilt of the father, nor the father bear the guilt of the son. The righteousness of the righteous shall be upon himself, and the wickedness of the wicked shall be upon himself. (NKJV)

18 God’s Love Provides Mercy
(Leviticus 16:30) "For on that day the priest shall make atonement for you, to cleanse you, that you may be clean from all your sins before the LORD. (NKJV)

19 God’s Love Provides Mercy
(Leviticus 17:11) 'For the life of the flesh is in the blood, and I have given it to you upon the altar to make atonement for your souls; for it is the blood that makes atonement for the soul.' (NKJV)

20 Faith Responds Examples (Heb. 11) Able…offered Noah…prepared
Abraham…Went…Offered Sarah…conceived Isaac…Blessed Israelites…Passed Through Israelites…Encircled Walls of Jericho Genuine faith requires belief-based action!

21 Faith Responds (Hebrews 11:6)
But without faith it is impossible to please Him, for he who comes to God must believe that He is, and that He is a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him. (NKJV)

22 Synecdoche (sin-ek-doe-key)
(John 3:16) "For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life. (NKJV) Contradiction? (James 2:19) You believe that there is one God. You do well. Even the demons believe--and tremble! (NKJV) Synecdoche (sin-ek-doe-key)

23 Faith Only? (James 2:14) What does it profit, my brethren, if someone says he has faith but does not have works? Can faith save him? (NKJV) His answer: No. Jas. 2: (v. 14) Can that type of faith save a man? (v. 17) Faith without action is dead (v. 18) Faith is shown by action (v. 20) Faith without action is useless (v ) Abraham’s faith was perfected by his actions (v. 24) We are justified by action, not faith alone (v. 26) Faith without works is dead (v. 19) Demons are believers (this means there are BELIEVERS IN HELL!!!)
