2 Click to make the sum appear and encourage the students to read it aloud. Discuss what the symbols stand for. Click to make the set associated with the first number appear and count them and click again to make the second set appear and count them. Click to make the first set move up to the corresponding number on the number line at the top of the page. Each movement will be accompanied by a sound and the numeral changing colour to purple. Encourage the students to count along with the audio and visual cues. Click again to make the second set move up to the number line, with the same associated effects as above. Discuss how many objects there are altogether. When the students are familiar with the sequence of events, before clicking the second set, ask the children to estimate or predict the answer to the sum. Ask them to show it on a number fan, or to calculate it on their own number line. Click to make the answer appear and read the whole sum. Repeat for the following slides. On the last slide, click to make the learning outcome appear and click again to trigger the smiley face and applause.
