Click to make the sum appear.
Click to make the first set of objects appear. This will also cause the corresponding numerals on the number line to change to purple. Click to make the second set appear. As they appear, the numerals on the number line corresponding to the total will change colour to a slightly darker shade of purple. Discuss how many objects there are altogether. Look at the number line and describe what has happened to the numerals on it (e.g. “We started with two, so these numbers changed to purple, then we added one, two, three, four more, which changed the colour of these numbers.”). Ask the students the answer to the sum, and click to make it appear. Continue as above for the remainder of the sums. If appropriate, ask students to predict the answer after the first set has appeared by counting along the number line. For the last three slides, read out the “REMEMBER” tips, then click to make the sum appear. Click to highlight the first number in the sum on the number line, then click again to make the jumps and the next four numbers highlighted. The answer will appear with a further click. On the last slide, click to make the learning outcome appear and click again to trigger the smiley face and applause.
